Joey King Reacts to Jacob Elordi’s “Kissing Booth” Criticisms

Joey King is weighing in on Jacob Elordi’s recent comments about The Kissing Booth movie trilogy.

At a Balenciaga fashion show in Los Angeles on Saturday, King, 24, responded to a question from Variety regarding 26-year-old Elordi’s recent comments that the Netflix romantic comedy movies “are ridiculous.”

King and Elordi costarred as Elle Evans and Noah Flynn in the three Kissing Booth movies, released between 2018 and 2021. The pair also dated for over a year leading up to the first film’s release, which made for one of Elordi’s first roles in the movie industry.

The Saltburn and Priscilla actor recently revealed to GQ that he “didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies.”
“Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape,” he opined of the series.

In that interview, Elordi said that signing on to make The Kissing Booth’s sequels almost felt like “a trap” because “it can become 15 for them, none for you. You have no original ideas and you’re dead inside. So it’s a fine dance.”
The actor also reflected on the notion that he is “pretentious” about the movies that helped pave a path toward his own stardom at the time.

King is not the only Kissing Booth actor who appears disappointed by Elordi’s public comments on the films. Taylor Zakhar Perez, who appeared in the two sequels, spoke highly of his time working on The Kissing Booth movies at GQ’s Men of the Year party on Nov. 16.

King also shared some interest at revisiting the world of The Kissing Booth down the line. “If there were to be a fourth installment it would be picking up where Elle and the gang are in their fifties or something, just to drop back in with them and see where they’re at,” she said.
