The Journey to Self-Discovery
Yvette Manessis Corporon, an Emmy Award-winning producer and mother of two, led a seemingly fulfilling life. Yet beneath the surface, she felt overwhelmed, often crying on her way to work. “I was in the weeds of it, and I was so depleted,” Corporon shares, acknowledging her good fortune yet yearning for something more. Like many working mothers, she struggled with a lengthy to-do list and felt trapped on a ‘constant hamster wheel’.
Inspiration from Carrie Underwood
The turning point in her journey came during an interview with singer Carrie Underwood, who emanated joy and enthusiasm. “She was just joyful,” Corporon recalls, noting Underwood’s own path, which had taken unexpected turns. This meeting ignited a spark in Corporon, leading her to confront the void in her own life. “I remember looking at her and saying, ‘that’s what’s missing from my life,’” she states.
Cultivating a Passion for Writing
Determined to regain her sense of self, Corporon began dedicating early mornings to writing. This newfound passion filled her void and transformed her perspective. “It filled that void in a way that I didn’t realize was missing,” she says. She persevered through numerous rejections until she published her first book, ‘When the Cypress Whispers’, in 2014. Now, as she prepares to launch her fourth book, Corporon hopes to inspire others to pursue their dreams amid life’s chaos.
