Miley Cyrus to Only Use the Top Button of Shirts

In some new promo shots for her forthcoming single, “Used to Be Young,” she put a Cyrus twist on the classic white oxford shirt by skipping the buttons almost entirely.

Miley Cyrus shared a few new black and white pics to promote the song, posing on a chair in loose-fitting denim and a white button-down shirt. Instead of fully buttoning the shirt or only the bottom buttons for a peekaboo effect, Cyrus flipped the script and buttoned just the collar, leaving the rest undone and worn open on either side of her hips with her belly button piercing in full display.

The musician paired her shirt with black sunglasses, a belt, and black boots and wore her hair in loose, tousled waves, opting for minimal makeup and a short white manicure.

We needed a new way to wear button-down shirts going into the fall, and Cyrus was ready to deliver the perfect solution to our quandary. It’s a little daring, given the whole one-button thing, but the oversized fit and excess fabric help reduce the risk of flashing everyone in your path. It looks chic with Cyrus’s baggy jeans but would also work well with a slim-fitting skirt or layered over a tube dress. The styling possibilities are endless with this versatile piece, so it may be time to hit up the thrift store or swipe a button down from your dad.

We’ve seen a metamorphosis of sorts from Cyrus over the past year alongside her album Endless Summer Vacation, including her transition from bright blonde to a rich bronde and a sleek, vintage-inspired style with lots of archival designer pieces, including the vintage YSL she wore in the “Flowers” video.
