Emma Roberts’ Exciting Announcement

Emma Roberts, renowned actress and co-founder of the book club Belletrist, has unveiled the club’s latest selection: Didion and Babitz by Lili Anolik. This nonfiction work, set to be released on November 12 by Scribner, delves into the intricate relationship between celebrated writers Joan Didion and Eve Babitz, both of whom captured the essence of 1960s California through their powerful narratives. Their passing just days apart in December 2021 marked the end of an era, and their stories continue to resonate with readers.

A Personal Connection to Literature

In an exclusive email interview with People, Roberts shared her deep admiration for Didion, stating, “Joan Didion was the first writer I truly loved as an adult person.” Her personal connection to Didion underscores the impact of literature on identity and understanding. Roberts expressed that discovering Didion felt like experiencing a personalized dialogue, enhancing the reader’s emotional engagement with the text.

A Collaboration with Tertulia

This edition of Belletrist’s book club selection marks the beginning of an exciting collaboration with Tertulia, an innovative online platform for book discovery. Through this partnership, Belletrist offers a paid subscription service, including the mailing of monthly book picks directly to subscribers. Members will enjoy exclusive benefits such as early access to selected titles, intimate discussions with authors, and a complimentary Tertulia membership. To sweeten the deal, the first 200 members to join will receive an early copy of the November pick and a limited-edition Belletrist hat designed by Roberts and Karah Preiss.
