Heights Press: A New Chapter in Library Exclusivity

    Introducing Heights Press

On October 21, OverDrive officially launched a new publishing imprint, Heights Press, dedicated to creating exclusive content for libraries and public schools worldwide. With the unveiling of the Hickory Hollow series, Heights Press targets middle-grade readers, providing an exciting selection of titles available through the e-book and audiobook platforms Libby, Sora, and Kanopy Kids. This initiative marks a significant step in promoting literacy among young readers.

    A Commitment to Literacy

Jen Leitman, Chief Marketing Officer at OverDrive, emphasized that Heights Press aims to cultivate a love for reading in children. “We’ve been serving libraries and supporting literacy for two decades; this felt like a natural evolution for us,” said Leitman. With the ability to offer original digital content across various platforms, the imprint intends to enrich the libraries’ offerings while fostering lifelong readers.

    Exclusive and Diverse Content

Inspired by Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Heights Press is committed to diversity in storytelling. Each book in the Hickory Hollow series features unique characters shaped by their distinct backgrounds, representing diverse perspectives. Furthermore, each title will be accessible in five languages: English, Chinese, Vietnamese, German, and Korean. The first book will be available for free to schools and libraries using OverDrive, while additional titles can be purchased in the OverDrive marketplace.

Leitman stated, “What makes us different is that we only serve library channels, creating exclusive content for these institutions.” Heights Press’s focus on collaborative storytelling and educational accessibility promises an enriching reading experience for students across the globe.
