The actors presented on stage during the awards show months after their USA Network series saw a viral resurgence thanks to Netflix.
Suits alums Patrick J. Adams and Gabriel Macht reunited at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, first when they walked the red carpet together before the awards show began and then later when they presented Best TV Drama on stage during the ceremony along with two more former costars.
And when asked about the new upcoming Suits series, Adams said, “It’s all in early stages.” He added that they both have “no idea” what it could be about. “It’s a show in the Suits universe, like a Suits LA,” he said. “If I got the phone call, I’m ready to suit up again.”
Later, during the last half-hour of the ceremony, planned presenters Macht and Adams poked fun at how long it took for Suits to get the love it has now. “There’s nothing more dramatic or anxiety-inducing than waiting all night to hear that your category has finally arrived,” Macht said.
“Yes, that’s true,” Adams agreed. “It’s hard to imagine having to wait so long to see your show get that kind of recognition.”
Then their Suits costars Gina Torres and Sarah Rafferty joined them onstage as a surprise. “Don’t forget about us,” Rafferty said. “Sorry not sorry to interrupt.”
“I do think they forgot about the nominees,” Torres joked before the four actors revealed Succession won the top award.
USA Network’s Suits starred Adams as con man-turned-lawyer Mike Ross, who became the young protégé to Macht’s legal shark Harvey Specter at a top NYC firm. The legal drama ran from 2011 to 2019 and also starred Rick Hoffman and Meghan Markle (before she married Prince Harrry and became the Duchess of Sussex). The series recently enjoyed a viral resurgence in 2023 when the first eight seasons became available to stream on Netflix (the ninth and final season — as well as short-lived spinoff Pearson — is only available on Peacock), where it unexpectedly broke streaming records and topped Nielsen’s streaming charts for months on end.
Have news confirmed in October that original series creator Aaron Korsh began developing another series set in the Suits universe with NBCUniversal. The new project is not labeled a reboot, spinoff, or prequel, and would feature an all-new cast.
